LADBROKES TAKE BIGGEST WORLD CUP 2006 WAGER
Ladbrokes have taken their largest world cup bet to date after a punter staked £20,000 on England at 7/1, in one of the firm's shops in Penge, South-East London on Wednesday 31st May.
And if the Three Lions add to their 1966 win it will cost the bookmakers over £10 million. The tournament, the first in Europe since 1998, is expected to turnover a record £1 billion for the
British betting industry alone.

Ladbrokes spokesman, Nick Weinberg, said: "Turnover in general - and on England in particular - is set to be unprecedented. We're bracing ourselves for a huge pay-out."
The firm have a wide range of world cup markets on offer. Including 'which group will supply the eventual winner'. Group F , home to the 9/4 tournament favourites, Brazil, are 2/1 to provide the champions.
