Tunisia eye important World Cup win vs Ukraine

Ukraine, boosted by the overwhelming victory over Saudi Arabia, eye a decisive win over Tunisia on Friday in a bid to qualify for the knockout stage. The World Cup debutants recovered from a 0-4 loss to Spain to rout Saudi Arabia 4-0 in their Group H second game.

Their leading scorers Andriy Shevchenko and Serhiy Rebrov, the former famed attack duo of Dynamo Kiev, once again showed their killer instincts before the slow-paced defense of the Arab team.

Besides the dual format, the Ukraine squad also boast very good defensive midfielders and defenders. Oleg Blokhin was confident of his proteges' performance in the match and expressed his optimism at the match against Tunisia, the champions at the 2004 African Cup.

After a dramatic win-then-lose match against Spain, Tunisia ended up with only one point gained from Saudi Arabia. Now the north Africans have no choice but win their last game in the Group, for their possible qualification for the knockout phase.

Roger Lemerre, the only coach to win both European and African Championships, had cherished the hope to lead Tunisia into the round of 16. Hopes still are alive, as the rising Tunisia have a competitive team.

Brazilian-born duo Jose Clayton and Santos helped them achieve six wins and three draws in qualification, and the skipper Riadh Bouazizi has won more than 50 caps and is a tough tackler in the heart of midfield.
