Two more R of 16 berths up for grabs in final World Cup group games

There are bound to be a few frayed nerves as this exciting final batch of group matches gets underway. In Group G, only Togo have been eliminated so far, leaving Switzerland, France and South Korea to tussle for two priceless berths in the Round of 16. Saudi Arabia - Spain, 16:00, Kaiserslautern, Group H. The Saudis need not one but two miracles if they are to avoid heading home after today's encounter. First of all they must overcome Spain by five clear goals and then, should they manage that, they need Ukraine and Tunisia to play out a stalemate in the other game. In the Spanish camp, coach Luis Aragones has indicated he will rest key players.

Togo - France, 21:00, Cologne, Group G. Despite two lacklustre draws, France still control their own destiny going into their final match. As in 2002, they need a 2-0 triumph to be sure of advancing, should the game between Switzerland and South Korea end in a draw. In the event either of those two sides emerges victorious, a one-goal victory would see Les Bleus go through. As for the Togolese, they have nothing but pride at stake as they bid a fond farewell to the world’s greatest football tournament.
